The Ile St Louis and the adjoining Ile de la Cité are
amongst the oldest areas of Paris. The Latin Quarter, Notre Dame Cathedral, flower
market, the Marais, the Place des Vosges, the antique shops of the Rue St Paul,
are all within a short stroll. Dotted amongst the tiny island streets you will find
boutiques, cafés, numerous restaurants as well as the famous Berthillon ice cream!
Even grocery stores and a laundrette! This is the location that everyone
dreams of but few dreams are realised. A great place for romantics!
This fine listed stone building on the banks of the Seine
dates from 1648 and was probably built by Nicolas Le Vaux, and is much
admired by enthusiasts of fine architecture. The studio was recently created on the top
floor for the owners own use. The sloping eaves gives a special charm to the place
and the view over the rooftops of Paris is difficult to beat - you can see the Sacré
Coeur and the Bastille in the distance. The apartment has been well insulated
against both heat and cold.
A skilful and imaginative design (similar to fitting out a
yacht !) executed with no expense spared to the highest standards in seasoned oak, it
is hard to believe that the studio is only 27m2. The living area is uncluttered, light and
roomy. Careful attention has been paid to the decoration. The result is charming,
elegant and relaxing!
The main living area of the studio has a thick carpet by the sitting area and
marble floor elsewhere. Wonderful panoramic view. Ingeniously concealed behind custom-made
oak panel doors you will find everything you need for a comfortable stay. One door
reveals a handbasin and vanity unit, another a small shower with WC. A breakfast
bar has 2 electric burners, with folding doors revealing a full size sink unit, microwave/grill
(no classic oven). There is lots of storage space including cupboards for both Monsieur
and Madame! The double bed pushes back under an alcove during the day to make a
comfortable sofa with cushions. An oak desk unit by the window. A table and chairs
complete the furnishings. TV. Local line telephone. Electric heating. Initial linen
supplied.
