The universally popular Marais district could hardly be a more central location for visiting Paris. One of the oldest quartiers of Paris, much dating from 17^th C or earlier, it is protected from insensitive renovation. The streets of the Marais are full of wonderful old buildings, secret courtyards and other architectural beauties.

 On the rue des Archives, overlooking the rue des Francs Bourgeois with tempting boutiques, this area is architecturally stunning. Bustling Rue Rambuteau nearby - pavement cafés, speciality food shops. Restaurants abound ! The exquisite 17^thC place des Vosges, Picasso Museum, Musée Carnavalet, Archives of Paris, Pompidou Centre and much more are just a few minutes walk away! The Seine, the Ile St Louis, Ile de la Cité (Notre Dame, the Conciergerie, the Sainte Chapelle), also within easy reach by foot.
